Retric’s stance

AI at Retric.

We use AI every day, for code, documentation and analysis, as a tool rather than a magic answer. This is our stance and how we protect client data.

Principles

AI can speed up work, but it does not replace judgement. We review the content and code we deliver. For automated processes, we define ownership, approval requirements and when a person takes over. Responsibility does not transfer to the AI.

Client data

Before connecting AI to client data, we review access permissions, service providers, processing locations and retention with the client. We select services and settings to meet those requirements and review the terms governing model training. A Microsoft tenant does not by itself guarantee that all processing happens in one place; model choices and connections to other services matter.

What we use it for

We use it for coding, documentation, translation, analysis and meeting preparation where the task and data are suitable. We review the results and assess whether it saves time without reducing quality. Icelandic content needs testing with local terminology and real questions, not just translation from English.

What we don't do

We do not delegate independent hiring or staff performance decisions to agents. Work that can affect people's rights requires specific assessment and, where appropriate, legal advice. We assess privacy and applicable rules for each project; using a Microsoft service does not itself establish compliance.

Accountability for agents

An agent that reads data, answers customers or takes actions needs an accountable owner, just like an employee or a system. Someone in your organisation must own each agent: decide what it may do, monitor what it does and respond when something goes wrong. We advise on how responsibility is divided, which actions need approval, how they are logged and when an agent needs reassessing after changes.

How we help

We start with a bounded task and compare AI with simpler automation or a change in working practices. We agree success criteria, test responses and actions, and decide together whether to put it into production. Sometimes the result is to make better use of the system you already have.
